ELECTRICITY SUPPLY (EXEMPTION) NOTIFICATION 1994

 

IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 54 of the Electricity Supply Act 1990, the Minister makes the following notification:

1. This notification may be cited as the Electricity Supply (Exemption) Notification 1994 and shall come into force on the 1st April 1994

2. The Minister exempts-

  • any person who uses, works or operates or permits to be used, worked or operated any installation from paragraph 9(1)(a) of the Act except where the installation uses its own source of generation and the capacity of the generator is more than 5 kilowatts;
  • any person from subsections 21(1) and 21(2) of the Act other than the following person:
    i.  a person who possesses or operates an installation which receives energy from a licensee or supply authority and has a generator connected thereto for the purpose of providing stand-by energy in the event of failure of the primary source of energy; or
    ii. a person who possesses or operates an installation which receives energy from a licensee or supply authority at a voltage of 11,000 volts or more; and
  • any person from subsection 23(1) of the Act other than a person who works or operates or in control of:
    i.     any licensed installation;
    ii.    any installation or electrical plant equipment which operates at voltage higher than low voltage;
    iii.   any installation or electrical plant equipment which operates at low voltage and receives energy via a switch gear of rating of 100 amperes or more; or
    iv.   any installation or electrical plant equipment which generates more than 5 kilowatts of energy
