National Awareness Conference on the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2024
The conferences form part of the EECA 2024 National Awareness Campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the Act and provide stakeholders with information on its key provisions and implementation. The programme features presentations, discussions and interactive sessions covering relevant aspects of EECA 2024.
About EECA 2024
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2024 (Act 861) provides the legal framework to regulate the efficient consumption and conservation of energy in Malaysia. It came into effect on 1 January 2025 and applies to Peninsular Malaysia and the Federal Territory of Labuan.
The Act introduces a structured approach to managing, measuring and improving energy performance, and applies to three regulated categories:
-
Energy Consumers whose energy consumption meets or exceeds the prescribed threshold
-
Buildings, where the requirements apply to the Person in Charge of the building
-
Energy-Using Products, covering manufacturers and importers of regulated product
Why Attend
This one-day conference explains what the Act requires, who it applies to, and what organisations should be doing to prepare. The morning plenary sets out the national policy direction and provides an implementation overview delivered by PETRA and Suruhanjaya Tenaga, followed by a leadership forum on stakeholder readiness.
The afternoon session features practical, sector-specific breakout sessions led by subject matter experts, providing participants with focused insights and practical guidance relevant to their respective sectors.
It is open to organisations and professionals across the three regulated categories, as well as industry associations, professional bodies and academic institutions with an interest in energy efficiency and conservation.
