Lightning Protection System

Is the use of non-conventional lightning protection systems such as Early Steamer Emission (ESE), Charge Transfer System (CTS), and others permitted?

In accordance with the provisions under Section 47, Electricity Supply Act 1990 (Act 447), the Energy Commission only stipulates that the design, installation and maintenance of lightning protection devices in buildings must be carried out in accordance with the lightning protection system method specified in Malaysian Standard MS IEC 62305: 2007 – Protection Against Lightning, namely systems made from metallic elements such as rods, mesh conductors or catenary wires, and their installation must be based on the Protective Angle, Mesh or Rolling Sphere installation methods.
